FACE TAPPING FOR SKINCARE: UNLOCKING YOUTHFUL, RADIANT SKIN NATURALLY

When you take a look at the labels of your skin care products, what do you see? Often a lot of ingredients with scientific names that don’t make sense. But did you know that the relaxed standards for US-made cosmetics have led to the inclusion of nasty ingredients that do more harm to your health than good?
It’s commonly known that the EU has stricter regulations for ingredients in skin care products, but the gap between the US and EU standards is huge. To compare, the EU has banned over 1,300 harmful chemicals from products, whereas the US has only banned 11!
It’s not that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) aren’t doing anything. The main issue is that they have a huge backlog of over 40,000 chemical substances that they need to reevaluate.
And the regulatory framework is making the job extremely difficult.
The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) focuses mostly on new chemicals entering the market and gives only 90 days to determine whether the new substance is safe or not. The chemicals already present don’t fall under scrutiny.
The amendment from a few years ago (Lautenberg Act) gave EPA the power to reevaluate substances already on the market, but the progress is almost nonexistent.
There’s also a strong pushback from manufacturers and powerful chemical industry lobbying because these chemicals are easier and cheaper to make so prioritising people’s health would directly impact their bottom line.
Products that are created outside of the EU could be allowing ingredients including:
From shower gels, moisturisers, and face cream to shampoos, makeup, and toothpaste, you can find a variety of ingredients that are better left in a lab than using on your skin.
Consumers are the main driving force behind making a change. Choose to voice concerns to your legislators about cosmetics and personal care products. Also, choose your products carefully! What you buy (and what you don’t) decides what can and cannot be placed on the market, and of course, always read your labels before you buy.
At La Fervance we don’t settle for anything less than your skin deserves. Our unique formulation contains 100% naturally sourced and traceable ingredients so you won’t find harsh (banned) chemicals in products such as our Eclat Extraordinaire right down to the custom fragrance that is used and specifically made for us.
